We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Cashier to join our Finance/Accounts department. Reporting directly to the Accounts Manager or Finance Head, the successful candidate will manage daily cash transactions related to construction projects and office operations. This role involves maintaining accurate cash records, ensuring proper documentation, and supporting the finance team in various cash management activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cash handling and financial record-keeping, demonstrating integrity and adherence to company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily cash collections and disbursements for construction projects and office operations.
- Maintain accurate cash records and reconcile cash balances at the end of each day.
- Issue receipts and prepare vouchers for all financial transactions.
- Deposit and withdraw cash from banks as required to meet business needs.
- Support the finance/accounts team in managing petty cash and cash at project sites.
- Ensure proper documentation for payments made to vendors, suppliers, and laborers.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports for management review.
- Immediately report any discrepancies, shortages, or irregularities to the Accounts Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a cashier, ideally within the construction or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures, bookkeeping, and financial record-keeping.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- High level of integrity, responsibility, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
