We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will efficiently process customer transactions and handle monetary exchanges while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. This role requires excellent customer service skills, accuracy in cash handling, and the ability to support store operations, especially in the absence of a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
Welcome customers warmly as they approach the checkout counter. Assist with product inquiries and provide helpful guidance when needed. Address customer complaints or concerns patiently and work towards timely resolutions to ensure a positive shopping experience.
Processing Transactions:
Accurately scan and ring up items using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Accept payments through various methods including cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments. Issue receipts, provide correct change, and ensure all transactions are processed efficiently and without error.
Cash Handling:
Count cash at the start and end of each shift to maintain proper cash flow. Make change accurately and remain vigilant for counterfeit currency. Balance the cash register and promptly report any discrepancies to management.
Inventory Control:
Monitor inventory levels at the checkout area and inform management of low-stock or out-of-stock items. Assist with restocking when necessary to support smooth store operations.
Maintain Cleanliness and Organization (When Supervisor is Unavailable):
Keep the checkout and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of clutter. Ensure registers are prepared and ready for use at the beginning and end of each shift.
Compliance (When Supervisor is Unavailable):
Adhere to company policies regarding discounts, coupons, and promotions. Follow all health and safety regulations diligently. Handle refunds, exchanges, and voids according to established procedures.
Team Collaboration (When Supervisor is Unavailable):
Work closely with team members to maintain smooth store operations. Assist with additional tasks such as restocking or organizing merchandise when not engaged with customers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience as a Cashier or in a similar role.
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams and achieve performance targets.
- Basic proficiency in record keeping, including Excel and reporting via WhatsApp.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Honest, disciplined, and reliable with a strong customer-oriented mindset.
