Cashier

The Bakery & Grocery Store Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring smooth retail operations by accurately handling customer billing, cash transactions, and POS system operations. This position requires maintaining daily cash reconciliation while delivering courteous and efficient customer service. The cashier will work closely with the Branch Manager or Store Incharge to uphold company standards and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Cash Handling: Receive cash payments, process card transactions, and other approved payment methods, ensuring the correct change is returned to customers.
- POS Operations: Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to generate accurate bills and receipts.
- Product Billing: Accurately scan or enter bakery, grocery, dairy, and other store products, verifying correct prices and quantities.
- Cash Reconciliation: Reconcile cash and payment receipts with POS sales records at the end of each shift to maintain accuracy.
- Customer Service: Interact politely and professionally with customers, addressing billing-related queries and providing assistance as needed.
- Returns & Discounts: Process returns, exchanges, discounts, and cancellations only after obtaining authorized approval.
- Cash Security: Ensure cash is kept secure and confidential, and promptly report any cash shortages, excess amounts, or suspicious transactions.
- Product Price Verification: Verify product prices, barcodes, and promotional offers, reporting any discrepancies to the Branch Manager.
- Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic cash counter, adhering to company food safety and personal hygiene standards.
- Reporting: Keep accurate cash records and submit shift closing reports as required.
- Company Policies: Comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cash-handling protocols, attendance rules, and other relevant instructions.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in cash handling and operating POS systems in a retail environment.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for accurate billing and reconciliation.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate politely and professionally.
- Basic knowledge of bakery, grocery, and dairy product handling is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow security procedures related to cash management.
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards at the workplace.
