Cashier

This position involves handling various payment methods including cash, credit, and debit cards from customers efficiently and accurately. The role requires operating a cash register or POS system to process transactions while maintaining a balanced cash drawer. The ideal candidate will ensure a clean and organized checkout area, reconcile cash at the start and end of shifts, and address customer concerns professionally. Attention to detail is essential to prevent billing errors and cash discrepancies, with any issues promptly reported to the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive payments from customers using cash, credit/debit cards, and other accepted methods.
- Operate the cash register or POS system to process sales transactions accurately.
- Count cash, provide correct change, and maintain an accurate cash drawer balance throughout the shift.
- Keep the checkout counter and surrounding area clean, tidy, and well-organized.
- Reconcile the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure accuracy.
- Address customer concerns professionally, escalating complex issues to the supervisor when necessary.
- Ensure accurate billing to prevent cash shortages, overcharges, and payment errors.
- Record all sales transactions and promptly report any cash discrepancies to the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

- Basic numeracy skills and the ability to handle cash accurately.
- Experience using cash registers or POS systems is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers and supervisors.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in handling customer concerns and resolving issues.
