Job Description:
- Responsible for planning, installation, support and continuous improvement for the IaaS platforms that support Affirmed Networks Next Generations Cloud based platforms with a focus on Openstack.
- Candidates must be well versed in Openstack to provide a state-of-the-art agile workflow.
- The candidate must be able to juggle multiple short- and long-term tasks by assessing priorities and adjusting as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work with developers, Release Engineers, and across teams.
Qualifications:
- Solid Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of networking technologies and protocols.
- Excellent understanding of Linux networking stack and tools.
- Working experience with configuration management frameworks (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (KVM/XEN/LXC/VMWare) and understanding of the pros and cons of different types of virtualization.
- Extensive scripting and programming experience (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl).
- Working experience with Openstack and/or Cloudstack, VMWare vDirector or other cloud management frameworks (deployment, configuration, operations).
- Experience with orchestration frameworks for cluster management (SaltStack, mCollective).
- Knowledge of open-source storage solutions and distributed file systems.
- Experience working with Linux HA stack: pacemaker, corosync, keepalived
- Good understanding of network gear and ability to configure switches and routers from different manufacturers
- Good understanding of server hardware and experience deploying and configuring servers include IPMI/DRAC/ILO, Bios, Raid, etc.
- 3+ years’ experience specifically focused on enterprise virtualization or cloud.
- Experience supporting a large scale, elastic, highly available cloud environment.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or ability to achieve in an agreed upon timeframe.
- Deep understanding of the OpenStack project ecosystem and hands-on OpenStack development / coding experience.
- Experience with Heat orchestration engine and delivering IaaS and PaaS offerings within OpenStack.
- Good experience with Neutron and solid networking fundamentals (e.g. SDN)
- Knowledge of multiple hypervisor technologies (e.g. KVM, ESXi, Xen, Hyper-V)
- Experience with various information security control frameworks, best practice standards, regulatory requirements, industry requirements for information security and IT related compliance requirements including FedRAMP and ISO 27001.
- Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple products and services.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Openstack Planning, Installation, maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Operational, Performance, and Usage monitoring with tools like Cloud Forms or similar.
