We are seeking a skilled legal professional with expertise in contract law, litigation, corporate law, or negotiations to provide comprehensive legal oversight for privatization transactions. The successful candidate will ensure legal compliance, manage litigation, and advise senior management on governance and regulatory matters. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external legal advisors, focusing on risk mitigation and capacity building within the legal department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal oversight for all privatization transactions, including reviewing and approving legal structures, documentation, and contractual frameworks.
- Conduct thorough legal due diligence to identify risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and sectoral authorities.
- Manage and oversee litigation involving the Commission, coordinating with internal and external counsel to ensure effective case management and favorable outcomes.
- Draft, review, and negotiate critical transaction documents such as Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPAs), concession agreements, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contracts. Additionally, vet submissions for the Board, Committee of Public Procurement (CCoP), and other relevant forums.
- Supervise external legal advisors and collaborate with the litigation function to manage legal exposure, case backlog, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide legal advice on policy, legislative, and regulatory matters related to privatization, supporting senior management on legal and governance issues.
- Lead and develop the internal legal team through mentoring and professional development initiatives.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the competent authority as required.
Required Qualifications
- A law degree (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience in contracts, litigation, corporate law, or negotiations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal transactions and litigation matters effectively.
- Strong skills in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents related to privatization and corporate governance.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- International qualifications or relevant international experience are highly desirable.
- Recent experience in similar senior legal roles within other organizations is preferred.
