Our client, HRSI, is seeking a skilled Chiller Operator based in Karachi to efficiently operate and monitor chillers and chilled-water systems. The role focuses on maintaining optimal cooling performance by managing key parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, current, voltage, and refrigerant conditions according to approved procedures. The operator will be responsible for handling equipment including chilled-water pumps, condenser-water pumps, cooling towers, and air handling units, ensuring continuous and reliable operation of the cooling systems.

The position requires routine inspections, maintenance support, and prompt response to faults or alarms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Carrier Chillers and a keen eye for detecting abnormalities such as unusual vibrations, noises, leaks, or inefficiencies. While this role does not involve team management, it demands proactive coordination with HVAC technicians and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues. Adherence to safety, environmental protocols, and energy efficiency initiatives is essential, along with preparing detailed operational reports as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor chillers and chilled-water systems in line with approved operating procedures to ensure efficient cooling.
- Continuously check operating parameters including temperature, pressure, flow rate, electric current, voltage, and refrigerant status.
- Manage chilled-water pumps, condenser-water pumps, cooling towers, air handling units, and related mechanical equipment.
- Start, stop, and adjust chillers based on cooling demands and system requirements to maintain optimal performance.
- Monitor building management system (BMS) control panels for alarms, faults, and unusual operating conditions.
- Conduct regular inspections of chillers and mechanical components to identify wear or malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate daily log sheets documenting operational readings and system conditions.
- Detect abnormal conditions such as pressure fluctuations, temperature variations, excessive vibration or noise, leaks, or reduced cooling effectiveness.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms and collaborate with HVAC technicians or supervisors for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and minimize downtime.
- Regularly verify chilled-water supply and return temperatures to confirm system parameters are met.
- Supervise cooling tower operations, monitoring water levels, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
- Inspect for refrigerant, oil, water, or other system leaks and report abnormalities immediately.
- Support chiller changeover and sequencing procedures to maintain uninterrupted cooling.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping practices within chiller plant rooms and surrounding areas.
- Follow equipment manufacturers' operational guidelines and company maintenance standards strictly.
- Contribute to energy-efficiency efforts by monitoring and optimizing equipment performance.
- Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and emergency response procedures.
- Prepare comprehensive operational reports daily, weekly, and monthly to document system performance and issues.

Required Qualifications

- Proven hands-on experience operating Carrier Chillers and related chilled-water systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment such as pumps, cooling towers, and air handling units.
- Ability to monitor and interpret various operating parameters including temperature, pressure, flow, current, voltage, and refrigerant conditions.
- Skilled in detecting and diagnosing equipment abnormalities and faults.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and alarm monitoring.
