Cedar College, an A Level institution committed to progressive education, seeks a dedicated College Counselor to join its DHA and PECHS campuses in Karachi. The College Counselor will play a vital role in guiding students through the college admissions process, helping them become confident, articulate, and well-prepared for higher education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support A Level students throughout the entire college admissions journey, including researching suitable institutions and advising on course and major selection.
- Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions, group workshops, and information sessions for students and families covering application requirements, timelines, and financial aid options.
- Assist students in preparing application materials such as resumes, essays, and personal statements.
- Coordinate with teachers to secure recommendation letters and maintain detailed student records.
- Stay updated on global higher education trends and financial aid opportunities for both local and international institutions.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrators to enhance Cedar’s college guidance program.
- Manage multiple student timelines, documentation, and application deadlines efficiently.
- Utilize technology and digital tools for research, record keeping, and communication with students.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in college counseling or academic and career planning for high school students.
- Strong background in supporting students with college applications, including essay writing, resume building, and recommendation strategies.
- Ability to provide counseling focused on personal development, decision-making, and transition to higher education.
- Knowledge of student financial aid options, scholarships, and funding processes for local and international universities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with diverse student and family populations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a school counseling or college advising role, preferably within an A Level or similar academic environment.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort with digital tools for managing student information and communication.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
Advanced qualifications or certifications in counseling are considered an advantage. This role is strictly focused on college admissions counseling and does not involve mental health or well-being counseling. Candidates seeking a position primarily in mental health support may find this role unsuitable.
