Flipdish is revolutionizing the restaurant and takeaway industry by providing independent owners with powerful, easy-to-use technology supported by genuine human assistance. Our mission is to simplify the complexities of running a restaurant in today’s fast-paced world through innovative solutions that truly make a difference.
As a Commercial Systems Engineer at Flipdish, you will develop products, systems, automations, and internal tools that enable our commercial teams to scale effectively. Your role will directly impact key areas such as AI Marketing, Google Business Profile (GBP), Growth Operations, and broader commercial workflows. Collaborating closely with Sales, Onboarding, Partnerships, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams, you will transform revenue and efficiency challenges into practical, production-ready solutions. This hands-on engineering position requires you to manage the full lifecycle of projects—from discovery and scoping to deployment, monitoring, iteration, and eventual decommissioning when solutions no longer add value. Success in this role means faster delivery of commercial initiatives, higher adoption of your tools, reduced manual effort, improved revenue attribution, and measurable gains in revenue, conversion, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain systems supporting commercial products, Growth Operations, and internal workflows.
- Develop internal tools and automations that help Sales, Onboarding, Partnerships, and Marketing scale without proportional headcount increases.
- Enhance Google Business Profile initiatives by improving discovery, routing accuracy, ordering coverage, control, and order-fee revenue through product improvements and monitoring.
- Create scalable automation for AI Marketing, including campaign setup, quality assurance, monitoring, reporting, alerting, and revenue attribution.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Vercel, and LLM APIs to accelerate delivery and unlock advanced capabilities.
- Manage the entire deployment pipeline on AWS, including local development, production deployment, observability, incident response, and service reliability.
- Collaborate with internal partners to build dashboards and instrumentation that track adoption, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.
- Take full ownership of problems by scoping opportunities, delivering effective solutions, measuring impact, iterating based on data, and decommissioning ineffective work.
- Provide constructive challenge to poor decisions and suggest improved ways of working, prioritizing truth and progress over harmony.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in software engineering, preferably with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
- Proven track record of shipping and deploying production applications on AWS, with ownership of the full development-to-production lifecycle and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in AI-assisted engineering tools, regularly using platforms like Claude Code, Cursor, Vercel, and LLM APIs to enhance productivity and capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build products that achieve meaningful user adoption and business outcomes.
- Strong capability to connect engineering efforts to commercial results and explain their business impact in clear, non-technical terms.
- Excellent communication skills for translating needs between Sales, Commercial, Partnerships, Marketing, and Engineering teams without losing context.
- Data-driven mindset to understand adoption, diagnose issues, prioritize work, and evaluate solution effectiveness.
- High ownership mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving and follow-through.
- Willingness to challenge poor decisions and advocate for better practices.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with martech or adtech APIs, especially Google Business Profile, Google Ads, or Meta platforms.
- Background in building AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, or AI-native workflows.
- Familiarity with serverless or edge deployments such as AWS Lambda, Vercel Functions, or Cloudflare Workers.
