JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Officer in Mardan, the Community Mobilization Staff is responsible for community mobilization in the target locations and for the implementation of project activities in coordination with the medical team. The staff will facilitate community-level activities including community needs assessments, training, and awareness sessions. They will act as a liaison between the organization and the target communities.

Other: Close collaboration with other team members at the field level: Nursing Assistant, Logistic Assistant, Driver.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Community Engagement & Mobilization

  • Provide continued on-the-ground support to all staff in the project helping to organize and deliver project activities.
  • Mobilize and organize communities for trainings and capacity-building programs.
  • Provide information and education on primary healthcare practices to the community and organize and facilitate meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the community, initiating contacts, identifying key players, and developing trust and promoting cooperation.
  • Respect and incorporate local cultural practices into healthcare and designing program activities accordingly.
  • Train community health workers and volunteers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Facilitate and report community meetings.
  • Support the creation of informal groups/structures.
  • Facilitate management in minor supplies and equipment needed for activities.

2. Health Promotion & SRHR Awareness

  • Implement health promotion campaigns to raise awareness about preventive measures and prevailing health issues.
  • Facilitate behaviour change campaigns at the community level and address misconceptions related to health.
  • Identify community leaders and influencers and include them in advocacy campaigns.
  • Provide support to the medical team in organizing and reporting in-clinic awareness sessions.
  • Ensure community participation in meetings and awareness sessions regarding SRH, including family planning and maternal and child health.
  • Promote gender-sensitive healthcare practices and ensure inclusivity of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

3. Referral & Community Support Systems

  • Collect and document community feedback and complaints.
  • Identify and refer vulnerable individuals to clinics.
  • Mediate conflicts and rumors regarding health activities within the community related to healthcare issues.
  • Establish and manage a referral system to connect community members with healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups in project activities and identify barriers to access.

4. Data Collection, Reporting & Accountability

  • Support in identifying and reporting disease outbreaks.
  • Collect and submit field data on approved data collection tools and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records of community mobilization efforts and healthcare initiatives.
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data at the field level for surveys and assessments.
  • Gather and report information, participating in the study of needs and stakeholder analyses.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the impact of the activities on the community, improving knowledge and changing practices.
  • Develop case studies and success stories.

5. Emergency Response & Community Preparedness

  • Support emergency health response and participate in needs assessments.
  • Mobilize the community during health emergencies and disasters and identify hotspots and resources.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare organizations and government agencies to ensure a coordinated response and avoid duplication of services.

CONDITIONS OF THE JOB:

Position based in Mardan. Regular field visits in areas of intervention and other regions in the country for assessments, meetings and/or trainings if required.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Education & Experience:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Advanced degrees (Master's level or higher) in social sciences, community development, or related fields are preferred.
  • At least 2-4 years of professional experience in community mobilization and capacity building.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in community engagement in health projects related to Sexual and Reproductive Health (including Family Planning, cervical cancer, MHPSS, and GBV).
  • Previous experience of working in the NGO sector, especially INGO.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in implementing an emergency response is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel as required by the program.
