The Community Outreach Worker will be responsible for implementing school- and community-based activities in support of the HPV vaccination rollout for eligible adolescent girls. The role involves engaging parents, caregivers, school representatives, and local influencers to raise awareness about HPV, its link to cervical cancer, and the importance of vaccination.

    DESCRIPTION

    1.     Community Engagement & Awareness

    · Conduct door-to-door visits to educate families and caregivers about the importance of immunization, cervical cancer and HPV vaccine.

    · Address misconceptions and provide information on vaccine safety, efficacy, and the benefits of vaccination.

    · Organize and conduct health awareness sessions in schools, community centers, and other public spaces.

    ·  Facilitate focus group discussions (FGDs) with community members, including parents, to understand and overcome barriers to immunization.

    2.     Data Collection & Reporting

    · Identify and register eligible girls in the target community (Schools and out of school girls).

    · Maintain social profile and accurate records of refusals, and other relevant data.

    · Provide regular reports on outreach activities, progress, challenges, and outcomes to the supervisor.

    3.     Collaboration with Health Teams:

    ·  Work closely with EPI vaccinators, mobile health teams, and other healthcare professionals.

    ·  Coordinate with local leaders, community health workers, and other stakeholders to ensure support for immunization initiatives

    4.     Advocacy & Support:

    · Advocate for HPV vaccine at the grassroots level to help increase demand and overcome vaccine hesitancy.

    ·  Support community-based activities like influencer engagements, mother sessions, community sessions, Jirgas, corner meetings, health talks, and campaigns that promote HPV vaccination.

    5.     Health awareness activities conduction:

    · Organize and facilitate community-based health awareness activities focused on key topics such as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), proper hygiene practices, vaccination and general well-being.

    · Engage with community members, particularly women and children, to promote healthy practices and behaviors that contribute to improved health outcomes.

    ·  Distribute informational materials, conduct interactive sessions, and utilize local media to spread awareness on cervical cancer and HPV vaccination.

  • Work independently to manage field activities while coordinating with other team members to achieve program goals.
  • Travel extensively within the designated areas, including rural and urban locations, to reach target populations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working on weekends and outside regular office hours as required by campaign schedules.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach activities and suggest improvements to enhance community participation.
