Compliance and Regulatory Expert

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as a Compliance & Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) focused on reviewing AI-generated compliance, regulatory, and risk-related outputs. Your role involves creating expert compliance content and evaluating the quality of reasoning and step-by-step decision-making in AI responses. You will provide precise written feedback, assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to prompts, and identify errors related to regulatory interpretation, policy and control design, compliance monitoring logic, reporting and disclosure requirements, and risk-based reasoning. Additionally, you will fact-check compliance claims and terminology, write high-quality explanations and model outputs that reflect correct approaches, and rate multiple AI-generated responses based on correctness and reasoning quality. This opportunity is with SME Careers, a rapidly growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, which delivers training data to many of the world’s leading AI companies and foundation-model labs.

There is currently no immediate project available for this role; however, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future opportunities as they arise. Joining this expert network will provide access to upcoming projects and engagements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop AI Training Content by creating detailed prompts and gold-standard compliance outputs, including policies, control descriptions, monitoring plans, risk assessments, and regulatory summaries.
- Optimize AI Performance by evaluating and ranking AI responses to enhance correctness, defensibility, clarity, and practical usefulness.
- Ensure Model Integrity by testing AI outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe or noncompliant guidance, misleading certainty, and bias, while validating reliability across various scenarios.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Law, Finance, Risk/Compliance, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in compliance and/or regulatory roles within regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, technology/privacy, insurance, or energy.
- Strong understanding of compliance fundamentals, including risk-based compliance programs, control design, monitoring and testing, issue management, remediation tracking, and documentation standards.
- Proven experience interpreting regulations and translating them into policies, procedures, training materials, and operational controls.
- Familiarity with common frameworks and concepts such as GRC tooling, ISO-style controls, SOC 2, SOX, AML/KYC basics, privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), and vendor or third-party risk management.
- Excellent judgment in identifying missing assumptions, overconfident claims, and false certainty in regulatory guidance.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum C1 level.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, defensible documentation including policies, SOPs, control narratives, and risk assessments.
- Reliable, self-directed, and capable of consistently delivering high-quality work in a remote, hourly contractor role across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Professional certifications such as CRCMP, CAMS, CCEP, CIPP/E, CISA, CIA, or CRISC are advantageous.
- Prior experience in AI data training or annotation, compliance quality assurance, audit or regulatory exam support, or policy editorial work is highly preferred.
