The Computer Specialist role is a full-time, on-site position based in Karachi, responsible for maintaining and supporting the firm’s technology infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing cloud-based and on-premise systems, and ensuring the secure and efficient operation of workstations and peripherals. The specialist will install and configure applications, assist with data backup and recovery, and coordinate with external IT vendors as necessary. Additionally, the role requires documenting technical procedures, providing user training on system usage and security, and actively contributing to the enhancement of IT processes. Close collaboration with audit, tax, and advisory teams is essential to align technology solutions with business needs. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, financial statement formatting, and the use of AI tools is also required, with the ability to adapt to various AI applications based on organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and network devices to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support cloud-based and on-premise systems, including installation, configuration, and updates of applications.
- Manage data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard organizational information.
- Coordinate with external IT vendors for specialized support and procurement.
- Document technical procedures and create user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Provide training and support to staff on basic system usage, digital security practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaborate with audit, tax, and advisory teams to tailor technology solutions that enhance workflow efficiency.
- Utilize AI tools and software to automate processes and improve productivity.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience working within a Chartered Accountancy firm environment.
- Programming skills relevant to automation, scripting, and basic application development to support internal IT tools.
- Hands-on experience with hardware, including assembling, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and network devices.
- Ability to train and guide team members on system usage, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting fundamentals.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, particularly Windows and preferably Linux, along with office productivity suites and basic networking concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud-based tools, data backup solutions, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalents are advantageous.
