We are looking for a skilled Computer/Electrical Engineer to lead the design and validation of the system architecture for a custom ARM-based Single-Board Computer (SBC). The successful candidate will have practical experience working with ARM application processors, integrating peripherals, designing memory architectures, and ensuring seamless hardware-software interaction. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to evaluate and select components that meet performance, power, and software compatibility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the overall system architecture, including hardware block diagrams and the strategy for component interconnection in an ARM-based SBC.
- Evaluate and select appropriate ARM application processors or SoCs by considering factors such as performance, peripheral availability, power consumption, and software ecosystem support.
- Allocate peripherals and develop pin mapping schemes to connect external components via interfaces like I²C, SPI, UART, GPIO, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, and others.
- Design memory and storage architectures incorporating DDR/LPDDR RAM, eMMC, SPI flash, and NVMe technologies where applicable.
- Specify integration requirements for sensors, real-time clocks (RTCs), clock sources, power management ICs (PMICs), networking components, and expansion modules.
- Conduct pre-design feasibility studies to verify compatibility among SoCs, memory, peripherals, and external devices, including interface and software support assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in computer architecture and digital system design based on ARM application processors.
- In-depth knowledge of SoC architecture, peripheral controllers, pin multiplexing, and the ability to interpret processor datasheets.
- Hands-on experience with DDR-family/LPDDR memory integration, storage interfaces, power management, clocking, and boot architecture.
- Strong understanding of communication protocols such as USB, PCIe, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux environments, including U-Boot bootloader, device trees, and Board Support Packages (BSPs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience developing custom ARM-based SBCs, Linux computing platforms, or industrial embedded computer systems.
- Experience working with application processors from vendors such as NXP i.MX, Rockchip, TI Sitara, or similar platforms.
Candidates interested in this opportunity should prepare a detailed resume in PDF format highlighting relevant experience and qualifications.
