Manager (Systems)

COMSATS Internet Services, Pakistan's pioneering Internet Service Provider, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Manager (Systems) for its Islamabad office. The successful candidate will lead a team of five professionals, overseeing the technical administration and management of systems architecture, network infrastructure, and cloud computing platforms, including Microsoft Azure and Azure Active Directory. This role requires a strong background in Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies, disaster recovery planning, and network configuration to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT services. The Manager (Systems) is responsible for implementing and maintaining critical server and network services, storage solutions, and security protocols. The position demands hands-on expertise in Linux system troubleshooting, shell scripting, firewall management, and virtualization environments such as VMware ESX and VirtualBOX. The ideal candidate will possess professional certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and hold relevant academic qualifications in computer science or computer networks, coupled with at least four years of relevant work experience in system administration and infrastructure management. This leadership role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to mentor and guide a technically proficient team to achieve optimal performance.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of five systems professionals to maintain and enhance IT infrastructure.
Administer and support Linux (Centos) and Windows operating systems ensuring high availability.
Manage network infrastructure including IPv4 and IPv6 configurations at the operating system level.
Implement and maintain disaster recovery strategies and procedures to minimize downtime.
Configure and manage host firewalls, including IP tables, and oversee critical network services such as DNS, SMTP, Apache, SSH, SSL, and FTP.
Plan, deploy, and manage storage solutions including SAN, NAS, RAID configurations, and file system management involving EXT3/4, NFS, iSCSI, XFS, and LVM.
Oversee virtualization environments using VMware ESX and VirtualBOX to optimize resource utilization.
Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts for automation and system management tasks.
Ensure cloud computing services via Microsoft Azure and configure Azure Active Directory for secure user access and identity management.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, evaluate new technologies, and plan system upgrades.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues to maintain system stability and security.
Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and best practices to safeguard organizational assets.
Mentor and train team members to enhance technical skills and operational efficiency.
Maintain documentation related to system configurations, operations, and maintenance procedures.
