This role is responsible for ensuring that all construction and related activities on-site are conducted safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and oversee the construction safety program for employees, contractors, and visitors. Key duties include monitoring safety compliance, delivering training, investigating incidents, and managing the site contractor safety program to ensure all contractors adhere to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Safety Program Development: Develop and regularly update construction safety plans, policies, procedures, and programs to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.

Permit to Work System and Contractor Management: Develop and maintain the Permit to Work (PTW) system and contractor management processes in line with Haleon’s global standards. Maintain daily logs of PTW issuance and conduct gemba walks to ensure safety compliance. Create and implement contractor engagement plans to foster contractor development.

Training and Education: Deliver safety training sessions to employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure toolbox talks and safety meetings are held at each project site according to the construction safety and project plans. Promote awareness of safety protocols and emergency procedures among all personnel.

Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety regulations and identify hazards. Perform safety audits, report findings to management, and recommend corrective actions to ensure implementation.

Incident Investigations and Reporting: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes. Prepare detailed reports and documentation, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring all construction activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards. Maintain accurate records of safety activities and incidents.

Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinate drills and training, and act as a first responder during on-site accidents or emergencies.

Communication: Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture. Communicate safety expectations and performance across all organizational levels. Liaise with regulatory agencies and external auditors as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

4-6 years of experience in construction safety.

Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory standards such as NFPA 70 and OSHA.

NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) qualification.

Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively in multicultural environments.
