Nutrition International is seeking a skilled Consultant to support the Government of Punjab, specifically the Planning and Development Board (P&DB), in strengthening multisectoral nutrition governance, planning, and coordination. This role focuses on advancing the operationalization of the Punjab Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy (MSNS) 2024, aiming to improve nutrition outcomes through enhanced collaboration across key sectors. The consultant will work closely with government stakeholders to develop actionable plans, revitalize coordination platforms, and support evidence-based decision-making aligned with Punjab’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Responsibilities
- Review the existing MSNS 2024 to identify priority strategies and develop a gender-responsive Multi-sectoral Nutrition Action Plan (MS-NAP) that clearly defines sector roles and incorporates a results-based monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework.
- Facilitate the revitalization of multisectoral coordination platforms at the provincial and selected district levels, including the Provincial Steering/Technical Committee and Divisional meetings of District Malnutrition Addressing Committees (DMACs).
- Collaborate with the Health Nutrition and Population (HNP) Section of the P&DB to build capacity for improved decision-making, accountability, and resource allocation related to nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
- Support the restoration and strengthening of coordination mechanisms such as the Provincial Steering Committee, DMACs, Tehsil Malnutrition Addressing Committees (TMACs), and Union Council Malnutrition Addressing Committees (UMACs).
- Work under the guidance of the Senior Chief Health, P&D Board Punjab, and Nutrition International’s country and global teams to ensure alignment with government priorities and international best practices.
- Assist in integrating nutrition priorities into sectoral plans and budgets to enhance resource tracking and efficient expenditure.
- Provide technical assistance to strengthen government systems for multisectoral nutrition governance, ensuring sustained implementation and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in multisectoral nutrition programming, preferably within government or development agencies.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing nutrition strategies, action plans, and coordination mechanisms.
- Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks, with experience in results-based management.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government institutions and multiple stakeholders across sectors.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with the nutrition landscape and development priorities in Punjab or similar contexts.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
