Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Karachi, a newly established tertiary care cancer facility, is seeking a full-time Consultant Medical Oncologist to join its Department of Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive outpatient and inpatient cancer treatment services. This role involves close collaboration with fellow oncologists to enhance and expand oncological care within the department. Additionally, the Consultant Medical Oncologist will work closely with radiation oncologists, surgeons, physicians from other specialties, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care. The appointee is also encouraged to develop a specialty interest in one or more areas within medical oncology to contribute to the advancement of the department’s clinical and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert outpatient and inpatient medical oncology care to cancer patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiation oncology, surgery, and other specialties to deliver coordinated treatment plans.
- Participate in the development and expansion of oncological services within the hospital.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to clinical research and academic activities.
- Develop a subspecialty interest within medical oncology to enhance patient care and departmental expertise.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
- Support training and mentoring of junior medical staff and trainees.

Required Qualifications

- MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of specialty training evidenced by relevant qualifications such as MRCP, FRCS, FRCR, FCA, MRCPath, or equivalent.
- American Board certification in Medical Oncology, including appropriate sub-specialty boards where applicable.
- FCPS qualification with documented completion of specialty training and relevant sub-specialty certification, along with a minimum of three years of approved overseas experience.
- Full and unencumbered registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential for effective patient interaction and multidisciplinary collaboration.
