Contratual Modality: Third Party Contract
Background/Purpose:
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) requires equitable access to safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable medicines and health technologies. Strengthening medicine access, promoting the appropriate use of antibiotics, improving medication safety, and enhancing patient safety are critical components of health systems strengthening and quality of care in Pakistan.
The consultant will provide technical support to strengthen access to quality-assured medicines, antimicrobial use and consumption monitoring, medication safety, patient safety interventions, and implementation of evidence-based policies and programmes that contribute to UHC and Health Systems Strengthening (HSS). The consultant will support the development of technical products, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of national initiatives related to medicine access, antibiotic stewardship, patient safety, and quality of care.
Tasks to be performed:
- Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead (Health System), the consultant will carry out the following tasks:
- To support the unit to assess, monitor, and implement interventions to strengthen access to quality-assured essential medicines, diagnostics, and priority antibiotics within the UHC framework.
- Support implementation of the WHO AWaRe classification of antibiotics within national medicines policies, treatment guidelines, procurement systems, and antimicrobial stewardship programmes.
- Assist in collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of Antimicrobial Use (AMU) and Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) data and contribute to strengthening national monitoring systems.
- To facilitate the development of technical reports, situation analyses, and evidence products to support data-driven decision-making.
- Support implementation of medication safety initiatives, including capacity building and awareness activities aimed at reducing medication-related harm.
- Provide technical assistance for implementation of patient safety and quality-of-care programmes, including preparation of technical briefs, implementation frameworks, assessment reports, and stakeholder consultations.
- To support the unit in coordinating with government counterparts, healthcare facilities, professional associations, development partners, and other stakeholders to support implementation and monitoring of programme activities.
- Prepare progress reports, meeting reports, presentations, and other technical documents as required.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Recruitment Profile
Education:
Essential: First level University degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Essential: At least one year’s professional experience in related fields.
