The Consultant Ophthalmologist position based in Karachi offers an opportunity to engage in impactful, mission-driven clinical work within a high-volume, resource-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.
- Manage medical and surgical treatments, including performing cataract surgeries and other anterior or posterior segment procedures according to expertise.
- Supervise and mentor junior clinicians and optometry staff to ensure high standards of patient care.
- Ensure strict adherence to clinical protocols and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and participate in case discussions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with organizational standards.
- Support community outreach programs and teaching activities aligned with LRBT’s mission.
- Demonstrate commitment to ethical, compassionate care and efficient service delivery in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Required Qualifications

- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with a recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g., FCPS, FRCS, or equivalent).
- Valid registration with the relevant medical council.
- Proven clinical expertise in ophthalmology, including advanced proficiency in optometry-related skills such as refraction, low vision assessment, and evaluation of visual function.
- Demonstrated competence in ophthalmic surgery, particularly cataract and other anterior or posterior segment procedures.
- Experience with laser technologies used in ophthalmic treatments, including retinal photocoagulation, YAG capsulotomy, and laser iridotomy.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and supervise junior staff effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English and local languages.
- Meticulous record-keeping and strict adherence to clinical protocols.
