This role involves overseeing product, process, batch, and landed-costing activities to ensure accurate cost and margin analysis. The successful candidate will strengthen costing controls and deliver reliable insights that support pricing strategies, budgeting, profitability assessments, and management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and standardize the overall costing framework, including policies, methodologies, allocation bases, and reporting formats for factory operations.
- Review and approve product, model-wise, batch, process, and landed-cost calculations prepared by the factory costing team.
- Analyze actual versus standard or estimated cost variances and investigate significant deviations related to material, labor, overhead, consumption, wastage, and production efficiency.
- Monitor gross margins and profitability by product, model, and sales channel.
- Review factory management information systems (MIS) reports covering material consumption, production efficiency, inventory movement, and cost trends.
- Ensure reconciliation of costing for raw materials, parts, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods with financial records.
- Collaborate with Group FP&A teams on budgeting, forecasting, pricing, projections, and profitability analysis.
- Review inventory valuation, including slow-moving and obsolete stock, and matters related to net realizable value (NRV).
- Develop costing dashboards and management reports for the Group Financial Controller.
- Review and approve costing master data, bill of materials (BOM) assumptions, cost centers, and allocation logic.
- Work closely with the ERP/Odoo project team to incorporate approved costing methodologies and controls into the system accurately.
- Ensure proper costing controls and segregation of duties between factory-level preparation and Head Office review.
- Conduct periodic factory visits to assess costing procedures, controls, and compliance.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and challenge abnormal costs, variances, and costing assumptions.
Required Qualifications:
- Professional qualification such as ACMA, CA Finalist, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in costing, management accounting, FP&A, or financial analysis, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong expertise in product costing, standard and actual costing, landed costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis.
- Solid understanding of BOMs, production processes, overhead allocation, cost centers, and manufacturing MIS.
- Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Odoo is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting/dashboard development.
This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in enhancing cost control processes and delivering actionable financial insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
