CTO Guarantees Officer Soneri Bank Karachi Pakistan

Soneri Bank is seeking an experienced professional for the position of CTO Guarantees Officer within its Centralized Trade Operations (CTO) department based in Karachi. This role is designed for candidates with practical expertise in bank guarantees, trade operations, regulatory compliance, guarantee documentation, and core banking systems. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience at the OG-I level, along with a graduation degree. Strong knowledge of State Bank of Pakistan Foreign Exchange Regulations, URDG 758, ISP98, AML/TBML frameworks, and legal vetting of guarantee drafts is essential. This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing complex guarantee transactions while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end processing of bank guarantees, including issuance, amendments, claims, expiry, and closure.
- Ensure strict adherence to SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations in all guarantee-related transactions.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of URDG 758 (Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees) and ISP98 (International Standby Practices) in daily operations.
- Conduct legal vetting of guarantee drafts and coordinate with legal and compliance teams to resolve documentation issues.
- Monitor and enforce AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and TBML (Trade-Based Money Laundering) policies within trade operations.
- Utilize core banking systems, particularly Temenos T24 and Payment Safe, to process and track guarantee transactions efficiently.
- Prepare and maintain accurate transaction records using Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel for reporting and reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties to resolve operational issues and ensure timely processing.
- Lead and manage a team under pressure, maintaining operational accuracy and compliance in challenging situations.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum graduation degree from a recognized institution.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience specifically related to bank guarantees at OG-I level.
- Strong practical knowledge of SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations, URDG 758, ISP98, and AML/TBML frameworks.
- Experience in legal vetting of guarantee drafts and understanding of the Stamp Duty Act.
- Proficiency in core banking systems, with preference for candidates experienced in Temenos T24 and Payment Safe platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for operational analysis and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage teams effectively under pressure.
