Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and standardize healthcare data from diverse sources such as electronic health records (EHRs), wearable devices, and claims data.
- Ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and GDPR.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, clinical experts, and software engineers to develop data solutions that support analytics and clinical decision-making.
- Develop and optimize cloud-based data infrastructure and data warehouses using platforms like AWS RDS and Snowflake.
- Maintain secure, scalable, and well-documented data models for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously enhance data reliability and availability.
- Stay current with data engineering best practices and evolving healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a Data Engineering role, preferably within healthcare, biotech, or life sciences sectors.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience managing large-scale relational databases.
- Skilled in Python or a similar programming language for data engineering tasks.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, and familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehouse design, and data integration patterns.
- Knowledge of healthcare data formats and standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, FHIR, HL7) is highly desirable.
- Awareness of data privacy, security protocols, and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC 2.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with real-time data processing tools and workflows, including SQL, Python, and Airflow.
- Background supporting clinical research or healthcare analytics data needs.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Exposure to MLOps or data science workflows is a plus.
