Data Engineering Lead

We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team and take full ownership of our existing frontend application. In this role, you will audit, maintain, improve, and extend the current frontend codebase. Much of the platform is already developed, so you should be confident working with an established codebase, identifying technical issues, enhancing existing implementations, and developing new features. Collaboration with backend engineers, product designers, QA engineers, and the product manager is essential to deliver a reliable, scalable, and high-quality product.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of the existing frontend architecture and codebase.
- Identify and resolve bugs, technical debt, and performance bottlenecks.
- Refactor and optimize code to improve maintainability and scalability.
- Enhance code quality, structure, and development standards while maintaining technical documentation.
- Build and maintain scalable applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Develop reusable, responsive, and accessible UI components based on product requirements and Figma designs.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and optimize application performance, SEO, and loading speed.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs, managing API requests, caching, and server state using TanStack Query.
- Implement schema validation with Zod and handle authentication, loading states, error handling, and edge cases.
- Collaborate closely with backend engineers to troubleshoot integration issues.
- Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, production-ready interfaces, maintaining UI consistency.
- Build and maintain reusable components using Radix UI and Tailwind CSS.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical feedback and ensuring alignment with approved designs and product requirements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Review code and uphold engineering best practices.
- Work with QA to identify and resolve issues, participate in sprint planning, engineering discussions, and team meetings.
- Provide regular progress updates, communicate blockers, support deployments, and troubleshoot production issues.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of professional frontend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Proven experience working with and improving existing production codebases.
- Deep understanding of frontend architecture and component-based development.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS and Radix UI or similar component libraries.
- Familiarity with TanStack Query and API integration.
- Experience with Zod or similar validation libraries.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, authentication, and frontend security best practices.
- Expertise in responsive design, accessibility, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience writing automated tests.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Familiarity with state management tools like Zustand, Redux, or React Context.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Sentry.
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building and maintaining design systems.
- Exposure to internationalization and multi-country applications.
- Previous work on marketplaces, review platforms, or other consumer-facing products is a plus.

Initial Expectations

During the initial phase, you will be expected to audit the existing frontend codebase and document your findings. You will identify and prioritize bugs, technical debt, and architectural improvements, refactor and optimize implementations as needed, and resolve outstanding frontend issues to improve application stability. Taking ownership of ongoing frontend development and feature delivery, while maintaining code quality, documentation, and engineering standards, will be critical.
