Data QA Engineer - Remote

As a Data QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the data we provide meets the highest standards before it reaches our clients. You will analyze outputs from our spiders and AI tools, identify discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly to the team. Your work will involve early engagement with project requirements to prevent issues, combining manual and automated testing methods, and continuously improving our QA processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear test strategies based on customer scraping and data requirements, owning QA from project inception.
- Perform exploratory manual and visual testing alongside automated tests where automation is cost-effective.
- Execute test cycles on extracted data and provide clear, actionable reports.
- Document defects with sufficient detail to enable developers to reproduce and resolve issues independently.
- Utilize descriptive statistics, summaries, and visualizations to assess data quality aspects such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift.
- Generate comprehensive test reports and quality scores to provide transparent insights to both internal teams and customers.
- Clearly communicate what has been tested, what remains untested, and the associated risks.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to clarify ambiguous or untestable requirements before QA begins.
- Contribute to the enhancement of our test automation framework, focusing on coverage and performance improvements.
- Propose and implement improvements to QA tools and processes, including browser and spreadsheet add-ons, as well as UI-based automation tools.
- Work independently with QA leadership, project managers, and developers to maintain high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a QA Engineer or similar role, with a focus on software or data testing.
- Proficiency in Python, especially using Pandas and Jupyter for data analysis and validation.
- Solid understanding of SQL with the ability to write basic to intermediate queries and familiarity with relational databases.
- Strong knowledge of web technologies and protocols such as HTML, XPath, JSON, HTTP, and CSS.
- Experience designing and executing tests against HTTP/REST APIs.
- Detail-oriented and proactive with a strong sense of ownership over project quality.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex project domains and adapt to new technologies.
- Experience leveraging AI and large language models (LLMs) to optimize test case generation and accelerate data validation.
- Skilled in test case design and test data management.
- Experience working in agile environments (Scrum or Kanban) alongside development teams.
- Understanding of data quality concepts including completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- Confidence to uphold quality standards even under delivery pressure.
