Database Administrator - Teknosys

Teknosys is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and protect critical database platforms that support Pakistan’s digital infrastructure across enterprise and government sectors. This role focuses on ensuring database availability, optimizing performance, and enabling quick recovery during system failures. The successful candidate will design resilient architectures, implement disaster recovery plans, and collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to maintain scalable and reliable database environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle, as well as NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis.
- Manage high availability and failover through replication, clustering, and switchover procedures.
- Develop and validate backup integrity and disaster recovery plans, conducting periodic drills to ensure readiness.
- Optimize database performance via query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and capacity planning.
- Monitor systems proactively and respond to incidents using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or Nagios, performing root cause analysis as needed.
- Implement security measures including encryption, access control, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with development teams on schema design, query optimization, and release planning.
- Automate routine DBA tasks and infrastructure provisioning using scripting and automation tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Maintain thorough documentation including standard operating procedures, runbooks, backup processes, and recovery playbooks.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in database administration, particularly with high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
- Strong expertise in managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle databases, with additional exposure to NoSQL platforms.
- Proven skills in replication, clustering, failover management, and disaster recovery planning using backup tools like pgBackRest or Percona XtraBackup.
- Experience automating DBA workflows and infrastructure tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or Nagios.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities, disciplined documentation practices, and strong communication skills. Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
