Database Engineer

Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to the development of new query language features within the database engine. Your work will span multiple components of the engine, including the parser, planner, executor, and storage layers. Ensuring correctness and reliability is critical, so you will be involved in implementing write paths, security features, backup and restore capabilities, and regression testing. Additionally, you will help keep the engine aligned with the latest PostgreSQL upstream releases. Beyond the core engine, you will also work on drivers, integrations, and deployment tooling that support the overall ecosystem.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Proficiency in C programming is essential, along with the ability to navigate and contribute to a large, mature codebase. A solid understanding of database internals—such as query processing, indexing, transactions, and concurrency control—is highly valued. We seek individuals who are naturally curious about system internals and enjoy troubleshooting complex bugs. The ideal candidate is comfortable diving into unfamiliar code, academic papers, or challenging problems and is eager to learn continuously.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with graph databases or graph query languages like OpenCypher or ISO GQL is a plus. Background in systems programming, including work on databases, compilers, or operating systems, will be advantageous. Contributions to open-source projects that you can share are also welcomed and will strengthen your application.
