Datacenter Support Engineer

This role focuses on managing and supporting datacenter resources, including storage systems, servers, fiber switches, and virtual environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous and proactive monitoring of storage capacity and server compute requirements to maintain optimal performance. The position demands overseeing both onsite and remote monitoring of datacenter infrastructure to guarantee 24/7 uptime of critical services. Additionally, the role involves managing the physical environment, including cooling, power, and access control, to support uninterrupted operations. Administration of file servers, backup monitoring, and vendor support coordination are also key aspects of this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and support storage systems, servers, fiber switches, and virtual environments within the datacenter.
- Proactively monitor storage capacity and server compute resources to anticipate and address potential issues.
- Ensure continuous onsite and remote monitoring of datacenter hardware to maintain 24/7 service availability.
- Oversee the physical environment of the datacenter, including cooling systems, power supply, and access control mechanisms.
- Administer file servers and manage backup processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor backups regularly and address any failures or inconsistencies promptly.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware support, maintenance, and troubleshooting as required.
- Implement and maintain best practices for datacenter operations and resource management.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in managing datacenter storage and server resources.
- Strong knowledge of fiber switch management and virtual environment support.
- Expertise in proactive monitoring tools and techniques for storage and server infrastructure.
- Familiarity with datacenter physical environment management, including cooling, power, and access control systems.
- Experience in file server administration and backup monitoring.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate support activities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to maintain 24/7 uptime.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical teams and vendors.
