The Head of Accounts and Finance will be responsible for managing all financial activities, including the preparation of financial statements, statutory compliance, cash flow management, inventory valuation, and financial planning. This role demands close collaboration with other departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, and HR to align financial strategies with operational goals. The professional will also be tasked with maintaining robust internal controls, governance frameworks, and effective utilization of ERP systems to enhance reporting accuracy and decision-making processes. Reporting directly to the CEO/COO, the successful candidate will ensure transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of professional ethics within the finance function.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Finance & Accounts Department, guiding a team of 6 finance professionals to achieve departmental goals and deliverables.
  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to safeguard company assets and financial accuracy.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support the companys strategic and operational objectives.
  • Handle cash flow management, working capital optimization, banking relationships, and funds utilization to maintain financial stability and liquidity.
  • Supervise accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring timely collections, sales recovery, and managing aging of receivables.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, Quality Operations, and HR on financial matters to facilitate seamless financial operations.
  • Evaluate financial aspects of commercial contracts, tenders, pricing strategies, and business proposals to mitigate risks and support profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable taxation laws, including income tax, sales tax, and withholding tax, including managing audits and statutory filings.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, costing, stock reconciliation, and financial impact of inventory movement to prevent discrepancies and financial loss.
  • Leverage and coordinate ERP systems processes with relevant teams to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial data integrity.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and smooth financial operations.
  • Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions to senior management.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis, business insights, and recommendations to aid in strategic decision-making and enhance company performance.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethical conduct, and accountability within the finance team.
  • Lead team development activities including performance evaluation, coaching, and mentoring to build a competent and motivated finance department.
