Age Limit: 30 - 55
Posted Date: October 19, 2026

The University Main Office is seeking an experienced Deputy Director to oversee the governance of its endowments, trusts, and commercial portfolio. This role focuses exclusively on governance frameworks, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate records without involvement in operational management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate secretariat functions, board governance, and institutional governance, preferably within higher education or non-profit foundations. This position requires strong knowledge of trust law, non-profit governance standards, and regulatory compliance in Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities

Endowment & Trust Governance:
- Manage the governance calendar, prepare agendas, board packs, minutes, and track resolutions for endowment and trust boards and committees.
- Serve as the primary contact for trustees between meetings, coordinating nominations, onboarding, and board reconstitution in accordance with the trust deed.
- Maintain statutory registrations and governance policies, including board conduct, conflict of interest, and delegation of authority.
- Ensure donor intent is respected by applying board-approved disbursement policies and verifying that gift agreements align with donor terms.
- Prepare annual and periodic governance reports detailing board activities, compliance, and risk management.

Commercial Stewardship:
- Define and maintain the institutional framework, approval criteria, and standard operating procedures for evaluating, approving, and structuring major commercial ventures, partnerships, and sponsorships.
- Review major commercial proposals and sponsorship agreements from all university entities against the established governance framework prior to execution.
- Maintain a comprehensive commercial register documenting each arrangement on university property, including details such as entity, operator, space, rent, costs, earnings, and net balance. Provide recommendations on renewal, renegotiation, or exit strategies when costs outweigh benefits.
- Oversee the inventory of commercializable assets and establish rental benchmarks, including policies and pricing principles for the commercial use of land, facilities, and venues.

Portfolio Mapping & Reporting:
- Collect quarterly reports from all endowment and commercial entities to maintain a complete and up-to-date portfolio mapping.
- Clearly delineate governance responsibilities from operational mandates to avoid overlap and ensure accountability.

Liaison:
- Act on behalf of the Director in daily interactions with trustees, sponsors, and institutional partners. Deputize for the Director as authorized.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in law, public policy, finance, business administration, or a related field from an HEC-recognized university.
- Minimum of eight to ten years of relevant experience in corporate secretariat, board governance, trust/foundation administration, or institutional governance, preferably within higher education or non-profit sectors.
- Working knowledge of trust law, non-profit governance standards, and regulatory compliance applicable in Pakistan.
- Proven ability to manage board-level relationships and produce governance documentation.

Terms and Conditions
Applicants must submit scanned copies of academic and professional documents, with the highest degree attested or verified by HEC. Candidates with a third division in their academic record, weak academic profiles, or those currently pursuing required degrees will be deemed ineligible. NUST employees with less than one year of service or without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Head of Institution are also ineligible. Government and armed forces personnel must apply through their respective departments.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for tests or interviews, and no travel allowance or daily allowance will be provided. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. NUST reserves the right to cancel, modify, or terminate the recruitment process at any time without prior notice.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the governance excellence of a leading institution, ensuring compliance and strategic oversight of critical endowment and commercial assets.
