The Deputy Manager – Legal & Corporate Affairs will be stationed at the company’s vehicle assembly plant in Karachi and serve as the primary legal resource supporting the daily legal, litigation, regulatory, and corporate affairs needs of the automotive operations. This role involves close collaboration with the Head of the Legal & Corporate Affairs Department at the Head Office to ensure alignment in legal strategy, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a proactive legal professional capable of independently managing local legal matters while providing consistent updates on litigation, contracts, regulatory changes, legal risks, and corporate affairs.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and oversee the company’s litigation portfolio, ensuring timely follow-up on pending cases and court proceedings.
- Draft, review, and vet a variety of legal documents including notices, petitions, correspondence, agreements, contracts, MOUs, NDAs, leases, and other operational paperwork.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and support to multiple business functions such as procurement, finance, HR, supply chain, sales, and after-sales services.
- Conduct thorough legal research, deliver legal opinions, identify potential legal risks, and recommend practical solutions to business and operational challenges.
- Prepare detailed case summaries, hearing updates, legal risk assessments, and management reports, including support for inter-company legal matters and disputes.
- Advise management and business units on applicable laws and regulatory requirements impacting manufacturing and business operations.
- Coordinate with the Head Office Legal & Corporate Affairs Department on corporate matters including statutory filings, maintenance of corporate records, and governance compliance.
- Facilitate the acquisition and renewal of licenses, permits, regulatory approvals, and ensure statutory compliance by liaising with authorities such as SECP, CDC, and others.
- Monitor regulatory developments, ensure timely implementation of changes, and maintain effective relationships with government bodies, regulators, external stakeholders, and legal advisors.
- Work with external legal counsel and represent the company before courts, tribunals, and regulatory forums as needed.

Required Qualifications

- LL.B. degree from an HEC-recognized university.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in litigation, legal advisory, and corporate affairs.
- Strong knowledge of Pakistan’s corporate, commercial, labour, and civil laws.
- Understanding of court procedures and regulatory practices.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in legal research tools.
- Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to professional ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

- LL.M. degree will be an advantage.
- Advocate of the High Court status is preferred.
