We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Proposal professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical equipment manufacturing, with expertise in tendering, technical proposal development, and cost estimation. This role focuses primarily on boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other static process equipment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preparing competitive and compliant proposals that meet client requirements and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and submission of both technical and commercial proposals in response to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and tenders. Carefully review tender documents, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare and validate detailed cost estimates that encompass materials, fabrication, welding, machining, testing, inspection, and other manufacturing activities. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and Sales/Marketing to develop bids that are technically sound and commercially competitive. Evaluate and apply relevant codes and standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association (TEMA), and other industry specifications. Manage pre-bid and post-bid clarifications, identify potential technical and commercial risks, and contribute to the development of effective bid strategies. Provide guidance and mentorship to proposal team members, helping to enhance estimation accuracy, improve costing systems, and raise the overall quality of proposals. Facilitate the smooth handover of approved cost estimates and all related documentation to the Project Management team upon contract award.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential. Candidates should have between 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in proposals, tendering, estimation, or costing within an engineering or manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and static process equipment is required. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, verifying BOQs, and preparing detailed cost estimates is critical. Familiarity with ASME codes, material specifications, fabrication processes, and inspection requirements is necessary. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, to support detailed cost analysis and reporting. Excellent analytical abilities, strong coordination skills, effective communication, and problem-solving capabilities are also important for success in this role.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
While not explicitly stated, candidates with prior experience working in multidisciplinary teams and those who have contributed to improving costing systems and proposal quality will be highly valued. The role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where technical expertise and strategic thinking are key to driving successful project bids and business growth.
This position is ideal for professionals who are detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing complex proposal processes while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
