Developer II - Software Engineering (Java Developer)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java Developer with 4 to 5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, along with hands-on experience in AWS cloud services. A solid understanding of security best practices and performance optimization is essential. This role requires a proactive individual who can work autonomously while contributing effectively within an agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze, design, develop, code, and implement Spring Boot applications and microservices using Java.
- Ensure application security by implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption techniques such as OAuth2, JWT, and public-private key mechanisms.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to the latest standards and best practices.
- Utilize AWS cloud technologies including ECS, S3, Lambda, EC2, Glue Jobs, and DynamoDB for application deployment and integration.
- Develop and execute unit tests to verify code functionality.
- Create deployment scripts and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools.
- Integrate applications with cloud storage, caching, and streaming services.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for relational databases to support integration, testing, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Address application and library dependencies based on security and static code quality scan findings.
- Participate actively in an agile software development process.
- Deploy and certify applications within cloud environments.
- Take ownership of assignments and work with autonomy while supporting team milestones.

Required Qualifications

- 4 to 5 years of professional experience in Java development with a focus on Spring Boot.
- Practical experience deploying applications securely in AWS cloud environments.
- Proficiency in RESTful web services and API development.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or equivalent.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a production environment.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including relational databases.
- Knowledge of the latest Spring libraries, including Spring Cloud and Spring Reactive.
- Experience with security and static code quality scanning tools such as Veracode, SonarQube, or equivalents.
- Ability to use monitoring tools and create metric dashboards, for example, CloudWatch or Splunk.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Experience in the financial domain or a good understanding of investment banking workflows.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools applied to software development lifecycle phases.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud-native application design.
- Exposure to tools and technologies such as Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, Jenkins, Splunk, and AWS Lambda.
- Strong communication skills with a high impact on team collaboration and project success.
