Development Officer

The role focuses on validating formulations of MPY–ICO products and supporting the optimization of existing products under the guidance of the Senior Development Manager. The successful candidate will assist in investigating customer complaints and production issues by conducting laboratory evaluations, identifying root causes, and recommending technical solutions. Hands-on experience in coating formulation and application, particularly in Protective Coatings, Epoxy/PU Floor Coatings, and Thermoplastic Road Marking systems, is essential to support product development, trials, and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop new products and optimize existing formulations to meet customer needs and support business targets.
- Provide prompt and effective technical service to MPY-ICO customers, ensuring they maximize the benefits of AkzoNobel products and maintain profitable relationships.
- Evaluate and develop new or alternative raw material sources to ensure availability at competitive prices, reducing formulation costs and increasing profit margins. Substitute hazardous materials with environmentally friendly alternatives in line with AkzoNobel’s global HSE&S policy.
- Conduct in-house evaluations of products against competitors and report findings to the Development Manager for corrective actions.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, offering support and problem-solving assistance as needed.
- Adhere strictly to applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry from a reputable institute with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of raw materials’ roles in recipe development and modification. Testing results must be reliable, reproducible, and accepted by internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Proficient in using Lotus Notes Database, Microsoft Office, and relevant SAP modules.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player and support colleagues in resolving technical challenges.
- Comprehensive knowledge of product testing and formulation, reporting directly to the Senior Development Manager for all technical and product-related matters.
- Commitment to following all HSE procedures and policies.
