Development Officer

Key Responsibilities
- Validate formulations of MPY–ICO products and assist in optimizing existing products under the guidance of the Senior Development Manager to meet customer and business requirements.
- Support investigations related to customer complaints and production issues for MPY–ICO products by conducting laboratory evaluations, identifying root causes, and recommending appropriate technical solutions in collaboration with the Senior Development Manager.
- Apply hands-on experience in coating formulation and application, particularly in Protective Coatings, Epoxy/PU Floor Coatings, and Thermoplastic Road Marking systems, to support product development, trials, and troubleshooting activities.
- Develop new products and optimize existing formulations to fulfill customer needs and contribute to the business unit’s targets.
- Provide prompt and effective technical service to MPY-ICO customers, ensuring they maximize the benefits of AkzoNobel products and maintain profitable relationships.
- Evaluate and develop new or alternative raw material sources to ensure availability at competitive prices, reduce formulation costs, and increase profit margins. Substitute hazardous or deleted raw materials with environmentally friendly alternatives in line with AkzoNobel’s global HSE&S policies.
- Conduct in-house evaluations of products against competitors and report findings to the Development Manager for corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry with 3-5 years of relevant experience from a reputable institute.
- Strong understanding of the role of raw materials in recipe development and modification, with reliable, reproducible, and defensible testing results recognized by internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Proficient in Lotus Notes Database, Microsoft Office, and relevant SAP modules.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player, supporting colleagues in problem-solving.
- Knowledge of and adherence to applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.
- Reporting directly to the Senior Development Manager for all technical and product-related matters, with a deep understanding of products and their testing protocols.
