DevOps Engineer

Comtanix, a rapidly growing BPO (not a call center) based in Bahria Town, Phase 8, Rawalpindi, is seeking an experienced and motivated DevOps Engineer to join their team. This role involves managing, automating, securing, and optimizing application infrastructure and deployment environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux administration, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, networking, server management, monitoring, security, and database administration. The position requires working night shifts from 6 PM to 3 AM, Monday through Friday, with a monthly salary range of PKR 70,000 to PKR 130,000. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with developers and technical teams to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient application deployment across development, staging, and production environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain Linux-based servers and production infrastructure, including application servers, web servers, DNS, SSL certificates, firewalls, and networking components.
- Monitor server resources, availability, performance, and overall system health, troubleshooting infrastructure and production issues as they arise.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, configuring compute resources, storage, networking, and security.
- Implement and maintain reliable deployment and scaling strategies for cloud-hosted applications.
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate application builds, testing, deployment, and rollback processes, improving deployment speed and consistency.
- Build, configure, and manage Docker containers, optimizing container performance and resource utilization; Kubernetes experience is considered a plus.
- Administer and optimize MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases by monitoring health, performance, and storage; resolve slow queries and database bottlenecks.
- Implement database backup, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery strategies while ensuring security and access controls.
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance tracking systems for applications, servers, databases, and infrastructure.
- Enforce security best practices across servers, applications, databases, and cloud environments, managing access controls and credentials securely.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment processes, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in architecture and infrastructure discussions.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to infrastructure, deployments, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in DevOps, Cloud, Infrastructure, or System Administration roles.
- Strong Linux administration skills with hands-on experience managing production environments.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Solid knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipeline tools.
- Experience with version control systems like Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- In-depth understanding of web servers (Nginx/Apache), DNS, SSL/TLS, networking, and firewall configurations.
- Experience managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or MongoDB databases, including performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash and/or Python.
- Experience using monitoring and logging tools.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and infrastructure management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Kubernetes orchestration.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
- Knowledge of Redis caching systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Route 53, and IAM.
- Experience implementing automated backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Background in designing high-availability and scalable infrastructure.
- Understanding of application security and vulnerability management.

This position requires working on-site in Bahria Town, Phase 8, Rawalpindi, during night shifts. The offered salary ranges from PKR 70,000 to PKR 130,000 per month, commensurate with experience and skills.
