Backend Developer Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, deploy and maintain scalable software and services
- Main focus on coding and debugging - this role is for someone who wants to build things; this is not a role for managers and paper pushers
- Design and implement high-availability services and microservices
- Develop core platform services and back-end APIs
- Collaborate with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience
- Contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within your team
- Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
- Build high-quality reusable code that can be used in the future
- Develop ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends
- Take the lead on projects, as needed
Backend Developer Requirements
- Have a solid understanding of computer science and computer programming fundamentals
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer programming, computer science, or equivalent
- Fluency in specific languages such as .NET, .NET Core and operating systems (ubuntu or MacOS or Windows)
- Understanding of RESTful APIs
- Ability to write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability
- Experience with SQL, MySQL and Oracle database systems
- Knowledge of front-end technologies and platforms, suchas JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Version control, such as Git
- Strong understanding of SDLC and programming techniques and tools
- Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement
- Desire to receive critical feedback and learn and grow as an engineer
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or with a group
