District MEAL Assistant - Pishin

Relief International (RI), a global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting communities affected by climate change and disaster, is seeking a District MEAL Assistant to join its team. Operating across 15 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, RI implements programs in Health and Nutrition, WASH, Education, and Livelihoods to build resilience and promote wellbeing. In Pakistan, RI collaborates with government bodies, local organizations, and humanitarian partners to deliver inclusive programs in protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), education, health, livelihoods, and WASH. The District MEAL Assistant will work under the supervision of the Provincial MEAL Officer to support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities and Management Information Systems (MIS) within the assigned district. This role involves routine field monitoring, data collection and verification, database maintenance, community feedback support, and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor MHPSS project activities using approved tools, ensuring independent verification of results while clinical decisions remain with qualified providers.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess project quality, timeliness, and effectiveness, submitting detailed monitoring reports and verified data to the Provincial MEAL Officer.
- Maintain and update district databases using approved MIS tools, ensuring data accuracy, resolving inconsistencies, and adhering to organizational data management protocols.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting by coordinating with project and field staff, assisting in surveys and assessments, and ensuring informed consent and confidentiality.
- Assist in capacity building by orienting and coaching district staff on MEAL tools, data quality standards, and MIS procedures.
- Facilitate accountability and community engagement by verifying participant selection criteria, supporting feedback and complaints mechanisms, and promoting transparency about project objectives and services.
- Contribute to learning and knowledge management by documenting lessons learned, good practices, and outcome stories while safeguarding participant identities.
- Uphold RI’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies, modeling ethical behavior and ensuring a safe environment for staff and communities.
- Support teamwork and coordination with program and support teams, providing technical assistance on MEAL tools and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Provincial MEAL Officer consistent with the role.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in MEAL, MIS, data management, or project monitoring, preferably within an NGO or INGO setting.
- Solid understanding of MEAL principles with practical experience in data collection, validation, database maintenance, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and digital data collection platforms such as Kobo or ODK.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to handling confidential information responsibly, following consent procedures, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information

- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or MIS platforms like LogAlto.
- Familiarity with community feedback mechanisms and monitoring of MHPSS, protection, or health programs.
- Background in humanitarian or development projects.
- Knowledge of donor reporting standards and data quality assurance processes.
- Fluency in local languages spoken in the project area is an advantage.
