Job Overview:

  • The District Nutrition and Development Coordinator (DNDC) will lead and coordinate the implementation of district-level nutrition and community engagement activities, ensuring the effective delivery of SBC, MIYCAN, and ECD interventions. The role involves supervising field teams, strengthening stakeholder coordination, monitoring programme performance, and ensuring timely reporting to improve nutrition outcomes across the assigned district.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement and SBC Interventions

  • Lead overall planning, coordination, and implementation of SBC and MIYCAN activities in the assigned district in line with District Detailed Implementation Plans, targets, and timelines.
  • Provide technical support and supportive supervision to Nutrition and Development Facilitators (NDFs) to ensure effective and quality implementation of community engagement activities at FCs and community level in line with approved guidelines and work plans.
  • Coordinate with district administration, line departments, and NGOs on regular district coordination meetings.
  • Promote male engagement by organizing and facilitating Father-to-Father Support Groups (F2FSGs), conducting targeted counselling sessions for fathers, husbands, grandfathers, and other male family members, and engaging male community influencers, religious leaders, employers, and local leaders to encourage shared responsibility for maternal, newborn, and child nutrition, Early Childhood Development (ECD), breastfeeding support, antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, and positive parenting at FC and district level.
  • Support NDFs in mapping targeted households in the FCs catchment; identify eligible PBWs and children aged 0–23/24 months, and coordinate with LHWs/LHSs and local structures.

Capacity Building, Institutional Strengthening & SBC Campaigns Implementation

  • Oversee the formation, establishment, and strengthening of community-level structures, including Mother Support Groups (MSGs), Father Support Groups (FSGs), Adolescent Champions, and LHWs, in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Ensure and facilitate the quality and consistency of training provided to project staff, MSGs, FSGs, Adolescent Champions, LHWs, and other community-level structures in accordance with approved training guidelines and standards.
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of SBC campaigns and Parenting Month in accordance with the approved campaign calendar and guidelines.
  • Monitor and document the reach and implementation quality of SBC campaign, GBFM, and Parenting Month Provincial Campaigns on 16-day activism activities across the district.

Oversight, Community Engagement, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Coordinate and oversee the cooking demonstrations at HH/FC level using locally available foods for targeted beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate engagement of male and female community stakeholders (religious leaders, local representatives, private practitioners, teachers, etc.) to address myths and misconceptions related to nutrition and health.
  • Oversee the identification, documentation, and resolution of social, cultural, and logistical barriers affecting behaviour change and utilization of nutrition services.
  • Ensure that each FC is equipped with an ECD Kit and that the kits are properly utilized to benefit children.
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of regular community engagement sessions and dialogues with targeted beneficiaries (PLW and caregivers of children under two) on nutrition and nurturing care.
  • Ensure timely compilation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate/Master’s in Human Nutrition, Anthropology, or Social Sciences from a recognized university/institute with in-depth knowledge of nutrition.

Required Experience:

  • 3-4 years or above of work experience in the field of Nutrition, SBC, community engagement, health or social protection programmes at district level.
  • Experience in monitoring/supportive supervision and facilitating trainings.
