ELV Draftsman (Security, ICT & BIM Support)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Draftsperson to produce accurate, coordinated, and submission-ready 2D ELV, security, and ICT drawings, as well as 3D BIM models when assigned. This role involves translating approved design intent, project requirements, and engineer instructions into precise technical documentation. The candidate will ensure drafting accuracy, maintain drawing consistency, support multidisciplinary coordination, and manage disciplined revision control. While technical design decisions and final compliance approvals rest with the responsible engineer, this position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality design outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drafting & Design Documentation:
Prepare and update CAD drawings across various project stages including Concept, Schematic, Design Development, IFT/Tender, IFC, authority submissions, shop drawings, and As-Built documentation. Develop equipment layouts, floor plans, single-line diagrams, risers, block/network diagrams, wiring schematics, rack elevations, containment routes, mounting details, sections, and typical installation details. Convert engineers’ sketches, redlines, design notes, schedules, and technical requirements into consistently annotated drawings using appropriate symbols, legends, scales, and references. Draft device positioning and related infrastructure for CCTV coverage, controlled doors, network points, ELV rooms, pathways, and interfaces according to approved design inputs. Maintain coordinated device labels, cable IDs, room references, equipment schedules, and drawing-based quantity take-offs, supporting BOQ updates when requested.

Coordination, BIM & Technical Issue Resolution:
Interpret architectural, structural, MEP, reflected ceiling, interior fit-out, and contractor shop drawings to identify conflicts and missing information prior to drafting. Coordinate ELV device locations, routes, racks, and room requirements with architecture and MEP teams, escalating clashes or constructability concerns for engineer resolution. Where BIM skills are applicable, develop and update Revit ELV models and sheets, align model-to-drawing information, and support federated model reviews and clash detection. Incorporate consultant, client, and authority comments, attend technical coordination reviews, and maintain a clear comment-closure trail.

Systems Covered:
Security and surveillance systems including CCTV/VSS, VMS, video analytics, ANPR/LPR, access control, biometrics, intrusion detection, visitor management, intercom, gate barriers, and parking access. Networks and ICT systems such as structured cabling (copper/fiber), data/voice, telecom, LAN/Wi-Fi, MDF/IDF, equipment racks, network pathways, and outside-plant interfaces. Audiovisual and hospitality systems including public address/voice alarm, AV systems, IPTV/SMATV, GRMS, and related head-end, room, and integration provisions. Control system interfaces involving security control rooms, monitoring displays, UPS/power coordination, and integration with fire alarm, BMS, and other building systems as instructed.

Drawing Quality, Compliance & Control:
Apply company and project CAD and BIM standards covering layer structure, xrefs, title blocks, symbols, line weights, dimensions, scales, coordinates, sheet indexing, and file naming conventions. Conduct thorough self-checks for accuracy, completeness, readable annotations, correct labels, and coordination before internal reviews. Follow approved project specifications and relevant international ELV/ICT/security standards, including SIRA Preventative Systems Manual and local authority requirements under engineer guidance. Maintain drawing registers, revision histories, comment trackers, and controlled issue sets in DWG, PDF, and RVT formats. Manage drafting priorities effectively, communicate constraints early, meet deadlines, and promptly implement consolidated review comments.

Expected Deliverables:
Complete drawing packages including ELV/security/ICT floor plans, single-line diagrams, risers, block/network diagrams, device/room/rack and containment details, schedules, and legends. Coordinated Revit/BIM views and sheets where assigned. Submission files in PDF/DWG/RVT formats, drawing registers, revision logs, comment-response updates, and approved As-Built drawing records based on verified inputs.

Required Qualifications
Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Drafting, Architectural/Civil Technology, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent technical drafting experience. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD with a proven ability to prepare detailed, well-organized 2D technical packages with minimal errors. Practical knowledge of core CCTV, access control, and structured cabling/ICT systems, including device symbols, typical equipment, and pathways. Ability to read multidisciplinary construction drawings, interpret engineer markups, manage repetitive revisions, and deliver accurate outputs within deadlines. Good technical English comprehension and written coordination skills, with dependable attention to detail, file discipline, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
2 to 5 years of relevant ELV, security, or ICT drafting experience with a strong portfolio of coordinated drawing packages is highly valued. Competency in Autodesk Revit/BIM, familiarity with Navisworks, clash coordination, model exports, and shared model workflows. Experience working on hospitality, healthcare, residential/commercial towers, large campuses, or multi-building projects. Familiarity with UAE/SIRA submission practices is an advantage.

This role demands clear, coordinated, and complete drawing submissions, reliable milestone delivery with early escalation of risks, disciplined revision management, and effective team integration. Final system design, engineering calculations, specification approvals, authority certifications, and formal design sign-offs remain the responsibility of the designated engineer or Design Manager. Responsibilities may vary depending on project scope and assignment.
