Engineering Manager

Dubizzle Labs is expanding its engineering team in Pakistan, currently over 300 strong, with a focus on fostering a culture of continuous learning, high performance, and knowledge sharing. Key Responsibilities

- Architect, design, and develop cloud-based software applications that support scalable and high-availability systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy to deliver top-quality products.
- Enforce agile best practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation.
- Work with offshore teams to address architectural and delivery challenges, while managing and prioritizing the technical backlog.
- Balance immediate project needs with long-term strategic goals effectively.
- Analyze and resolve production issues, ensuring fault tolerance and operational readiness are built into system architecture.
- Serve as a software guardian by owning non-functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality, and managing technical debt.
- Foster a strong culture of engineering excellence focused on team health and mentorship in good code design patterns.
- Recruit and develop high-performing engineering teams by hiring top talent and continuously raising the bar.
- Identify individual growth opportunities and tailor development paths for team members.
- Lead the team both technically and in project/product management capacities.
- Ensure the highest security standards across all platforms and underlying infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in server-side and client-side software development.
- At least 3 years in a management role with experience leading teams, including performance and people management.
- Strong expertise in free and open-source software development, including languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of scalable, high-availability system design.
- Proven experience managing live production applications, including monitoring, incident management, and remediation.
- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and best practices for building resilient, maintainable distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with AWS and familiarity with its various services is a significant advantage.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
- Background in developing and maintaining high-traffic, large-scale web products.
