Engineering Manager - Karachi, Pakistan

Key Responsibilities

- Architect, design, and develop cloud-based software applications that meet business needs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy to deliver top-quality products.
- Enforce agile development practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation.
- Work with offshore teams to resolve architectural and delivery challenges.
- Manage and prioritize the technical backlog effectively, balancing immediate demands with future requirements.
- Analyze and resolve production issues while building fault tolerance and operational readiness into system architecture.
- Act as a software guardian by owning non-functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality, and technical debt reduction.
- Apply deep knowledge of scalability and high availability systems to ensure robust product performance.
- Promote team health and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence by mentoring on best coding practices and design patterns.
- Lead recruitment efforts to hire top-tier talent and continuously raise the engineering team’s standards.
- Identify growth opportunities for team members and provide personalized development paths.
- Lead the team both technically and in project/product management capacities.
- Ensure the highest security standards across all platforms and underlying infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in server-side and client-side software development.
- At least 3 years of experience in a management role, including performance and people management.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing technical delivery.
- Strong proficiency in free and open-source software development, including languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of scalable, high availability systems.
- Experience managing live production environments, including monitoring, incident management, and remediation.
- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and best practices for building resilient distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on experience with AWS and its ecosystem is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
- Experience working on high-traffic, large-scale web products.
