The Security Architect is a senior-level professional within the Enterprise Architecture team, tasked with designing and overseeing the cybersecurity framework across the organization. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding enterprise systems, platforms, and data by implementing strong security architectures that comply with regulatory standards and reflect industry best practices. The Security Architect collaborates closely with various stakeholders to ensure security measures are integrated seamlessly into business processes and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the enterprise security architecture strategy, including the development of security principles, standards, and reference architectures.
- Lead the design and implementation of security controls across systems and platforms to protect against emerging threats.
- Ensure alignment of security architecture with regulatory requirements and industry frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS controls.
- Collaborate with IT, development, and business teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert guidance on secure design patterns, encryption methods, identity and access management, and network security.
- Evaluate new security technologies and tools to enhance the organization’s security posture.
- Develop and deliver security architecture documentation, including diagrams, policies, and standards.
- Mentor and support other security and architecture team members to build organizational security expertise.
- Participate in incident response planning and investigations to improve security resilience.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in enterprise security architecture or a closely related cybersecurity role.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to design and implement security architectures for complex enterprise environments.
- Expertise in identity and access management, encryption technologies, network security, and cloud security.
- Familiarity with risk management methodologies and security assessment techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders at various levels.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
