Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) Developer

We are seeking a skilled Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) Developer with over five years of software development experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining APIs and integration services that connect digital applications with enterprise backend systems. This role requires strong expertise in REST APIs, microservices, backend development, and enterprise system integration. The position offers flexibility with onsite, offshore, or hybrid work arrangements, depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain Enterprise Service Layer services and APIs.
- Develop REST APIs and microservices to facilitate integration between applications and backend systems.
- Build and sustain integrations connecting digital applications with enterprise systems.
- Create integration services using appropriate API and messaging methodologies.
- Manage API validation, data transformation, error handling, and logging processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to APIs, integrations, and production environments.
- Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code adhering to best practices.
- Participate actively in code reviews and comply with API and development standards.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Commerce Developers, Front-End and Backend Developers, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of overall software development experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in API development, microservices, middleware, backend development, or enterprise integration.
- Proven ability to integrate applications with enterprise/backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Expertise in at least one backend technology such as Java with Spring Boot, .NET, or Node.js.
- Solid understanding of JSON, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and web services.
- Knowledge of API integration patterns and best practices.
- Experience with API authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Experience working with API Gateway or API Management platforms.
- Knowledge of messaging systems or event-driven integration architectures.
- Exposure to Commerce or eCommerce platform integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
