JazzWorld, Pakistan’s largest mobile network, is seeking an Expert in RAN Optimization to join its HQ RAN Optimization Team based in Islamabad. This role offers the opportunity to shape the connectivity experience for millions by driving optimization strategies across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks. Reporting directly to the Manager RAN Optimization and working within a dedicated six-member team, you will be responsible for enhancing user and application experience, managing new technology rollouts, and ensuring vendor accountability. Your work will directly impact network performance, customer satisfaction, and the company’s competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive nationwide user experience improvements by optimizing network accessibility, retainability, throughput, and latency across all generations of mobile technology (2G to 5G).
- Enhance application performance for video streaming, gaming, social media, and OTT platforms using app-level KPIs, DPI, and probe data.
- Lead the optimization and KPI-based acceptance process for new sites, network layers, and technologies including 5G NSA/SA, L700, Massive MIMO, and carrier additions.
- Plan and execute vendor feature trials, measure their impact, recommend nationwide rollouts, maintain parameter baselines, and resolve audit discrepancies.
- Analyze network and crowdsourced data, automate recurring reports, and benchmark JazzWorld’s performance against competitors using tools such as Ookla, Opensignal, drive tests, and PTA QoS surveys.
- Manage end-to-end resolution of VIP, corporate, and regulatory complaints, ensuring timely closure and root cause analysis.
- Hold vendors such as Huawei and ZTE accountable for delivering committed features and meeting SLAs, while coordinating with cross-functional teams including Planning, Operations, Core, Commercial, and Regulatory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in RAN optimization across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G NSA/SA networks, with a proven record in feature trials, new-layer rollouts, and site acceptances.
- In-depth knowledge of LTE and 5G NR technologies, including call flows, KPIs, VoLTE, carrier aggregation, and Massive MIMO.
- Practical experience with Huawei and ZTE optimization tools; familiarity with Nokia or Ericsson is advantageous.
- Proficiency in vendor OSS, performance monitoring, and drive-test tools such as Huawei PRS, Nastar, SmartCare, ZTE NetMAX, TEMS, NEMO, Actix, and Genex.
- Additional skills in Python, SQL, Power BI/Tableau, GIS, and crowdsourced data analysis are a plus.
- Strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills for presenting to senior management, vendors, and regulators, and a results-driven mindset under pressure.
