Field Medical Officer

This role involves delivering comprehensive medical services during community outreach programs and field clinics. The successful candidate will provide consultations, diagnose and treat patients, manage acute and chronic conditions, and respond to medical emergencies in remote settings. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care, along with active participation in health education and preventive initiatives. Maintaining accurate medical records, monitoring patient follow-up, and supporting program quality and reporting are also essential components of the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide thorough medical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment during community outreach and field clinics.
- Conduct health screenings, medical assessments, and facilitate referrals for specialized care when necessary.
- Manage common acute and chronic medical conditions following approved clinical guidelines.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies in the field, offering stabilization and arranging appropriate referrals.
- Prescribe medications and recommend diagnostic investigations within the authorized scope of practice.
- Educate individuals, families, and communities on disease prevention, health promotion, hygiene, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Collaborate closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, rehabilitation staff, and community health teams to deliver coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, patient registers, referral documentation, and outreach reports.
- Monitor patient follow-up and ensure continuity of care through effective referral systems.
- Participate actively in community awareness campaigns, health education sessions, and preventive health initiatives.
- Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and organizational clinical protocols during all field activities.
- Monitor and report on communicable diseases, public health concerns, and emerging health trends as applicable.
- Support program monitoring, data collection, quality improvement efforts, and reporting requirements.
- Engage in training programs, clinical meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
- Maintain field medical supplies, equipment, and emergency medications during outreach operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Community Outreach Services, Head of Medical Services, or other management personnel.

Required Qualifications

- Medical degree from a recognized institution with valid licensure to practice.
- Proven experience in community health or field medical services, including managing acute and chronic conditions.
- Ability to conduct medical assessments, prescribe medications, and provide emergency care in field settings.
- Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate diverse populations on health-related topics.
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in maintaining accurate medical documentation and handling referral processes.
- Willingness to work in remote or field locations and participate in outreach activities.
