We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee the daily financial operations of a growing US-based business. This role requires full ownership of the accounting books in Xero, managing a disciplined month-end close process, and providing leadership with timely insights into cash flow, profitability, and financial risks. The ideal candidate is self-driven, communicates proactively, and serves as the primary in-house finance expert for the business.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping:
Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts within Xero, ensuring all transactions are accurately and promptly coded. Perform daily and weekly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors using Xero bank feeds and rules. Manage accounts payable, including bill entry, approvals, vendor records, and payment runs. Oversee accounts receivable functions such as invoicing, payment application, collections follow-up, and AR aging. Maintain integrations with Xero-connected apps like Dext, Hubdoc, Gusto, Stripe, and any inventory or job-costing tools.

Month-End Close & Reporting:
Lead the month-end close process, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and balance sheet reconciliations. Deliver monthly financial statements—Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow—within the agreed timeframe. Prepare management reports and KPI dashboards featuring variance analysis and clear, plain-English commentary. Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.

Financial Oversight & Controls:
Monitor cash position, burn rate, and margins, proactively identifying risks and opportunities for leadership. Establish and enforce internal controls, approval workflows, and user permissions within Xero. Review expenses for accuracy, compliance with policies, and potential cost-saving measures. Manage sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, and other compliance deadlines. Act as the primary liaison with external CPA and tax firms, preparing year-end and audit/tax packages. Document finance processes through standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, scalability, and audit readiness.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. Candidates should have at least five years of accounting or finance experience, including a minimum of three years hands-on work with Xero. Proven ability to independently manage a full month-end close and produce financial statements is required. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and US small-business compliance (sales tax, 1099s) is necessary. Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including lookups, pivot tables, and financial modeling, are expected. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are important to clearly explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders. High integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial data are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Xero Advisor Certification is highly desirable. Candidates with CPA, ACCA, CA, or CMA credentials (completed or in progress) will be preferred. Experience supporting US small and medium-sized businesses (10–200 employees), especially in remote or outsourced roles, is advantageous. Familiarity with Xero add-ons such as Dext, Hubdoc, Fathom, Float, Spotlight Reporting, ApprovalMax, and Gusto is a plus. Exposure to QuickBooks Online is helpful, particularly for migrations or multi-entity environments. Experience with job costing, inventory management, or multi-entity consolidations will be considered an asset.

Tools & Systems

Primary tools include Xero, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, receipt-capture applications, payroll integrations, and communication platforms such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. The role also involves using client project management and document management tools.

Additional Details

This position requires on-site work with office hours from 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM PKT. The office is located off Shahrah-e-Faisal, PECHS, Karachi.
