We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Executive to oversee the accuracy and integrity of financial data, ensuring compliance with local statutory laws and international accounting standards (IFRS). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the finalization of monthly accounts, support cross-functional teams with management reporting, and contribute to risk management and audit processes. This role requires strong leadership skills to guide the finance team and collaborate effectively with various departments to maintain robust financial controls and support business process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, completeness, and integrity of data related to the General Ledger, with overall responsibility for finalizing monthly accounts in accordance with local laws and IFRS.
- Lead timely and accurate monthly closing activities across all territories, including the Head Office, and finalize the Trial Balance to enable the Finance Service Center and other teams to submit results to the Corporate Office.
- Conduct thorough Balance Sheet reviews, including corporate-level Bank Reconciliations, ensuring all necessary breakdowns are available for informed decision-making.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities promptly, collaborating with the Finance Manager to implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage risk profiling and insurance coverage for all company assets in coordination with the Corporate Office, negotiate insurance policies, and oversee claims to ensure adherence to loss control measures.
- Review payroll-related expenses, ensuring accurate posting and timely payment of employee funds, EOBI, and tax obligations.
- Lead the review of tax books and tax-related calculations (income and deferred tax) in compliance with local taxation laws.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager during annual independent audits and other compliance audits to maintain financial records in line with legal and company accounting standards.
- Support the implementation of business process changes and improvements in accounts, systems, and operations.
- Maintain accounting controls by aligning the chart of accounts and cost center reporting with the Group Office, and define accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, assisting other departments by interpreting accounting policies and offering practical recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and SOPs related to Books of Accounts, supporting the Finance Manager in the review and preparation of Financial Statements.
- Execute delegated authorities as per the local chart of authority, including approval of purchase orders, employee final settlements, and cheque signatory responsibilities.
- Inspire and mentor team members, acting as an advisor to the Finance Manager, and identify and groom a successor to ensure leadership continuity and smooth role transition.
Required Qualifications
- Professional certification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA is desirable.
- Equivalent qualifications with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting roles.
