We are looking for a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting functions of a diverse, multi-entity organization. This role involves driving financial strategy, managing month-end and year-end closures, and ensuring robust financial controls. The successful candidate will mentor a growing team, spearhead ERP optimization and automation efforts, and collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Lead all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting. Ensure accurate accounting practices, strong financial controls, and compliance across multiple entities. Consolidate financial results from various business units such as retail, fuel retail, convenience stores, quick-service restaurants, food, financing, metal recycling, and investments. Provide insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making. Coordinate effectively with external auditors, CPAs, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
Cash Flow & Treasury
Oversee cash flow management, liquidity, working capital, and treasury operations. Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payments, collections, and financing activities. Prepare reliable cash flow forecasts to support operational and strategic needs.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Develop and maintain accounting policies, standard operating procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial integrity. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory audits, and other regulatory requirements. Monitor financial risks and protect company assets and financial data.
Process Improvement & Systems
Lead initiatives to optimize ERP systems, automate processes, standardize workflows, and enhance reporting capabilities. Improve financial reporting tools, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions. Collaborate with IT teams to strengthen system integration and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Leadership & Business Partnership
Provide leadership by mentoring and developing the finance team, fostering accountability and high performance. Work closely with Operations, HR, Procurement, and senior leadership to support business growth objectives. Build scalable finance and accounting processes suitable for a diversified, multi-entity organization.
Required Qualifications
- ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- 15 to 20 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 8 years in a leadership role such as Head of Department or Financial Controller.
- Strong expertise in accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and working capital management.
- Proven experience supporting businesses across sectors including retail, fuel retail, convenience stores, quick-service restaurants, food, financing, metal recycling, and diversified investment operations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as PDI, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms, with a solid understanding of financial controls, audits, tax compliance, and process improvements.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
