The Firewall and Security Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Islāmābād, Pakistan. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing firewall policies, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other network security controls to safeguard client infrastructure. Daily tasks include monitoring security events, analyzing logs, responding to security incidents, and conducting regular vulnerability assessments and risk analyses. This role requires configuring and optimizing security devices, collaborating with networking and systems teams to develop secure architectures, and maintaining documentation of security standards and procedures. Additionally, the engineer will support security audits, contribute to security awareness programs, and provide technical guidance to both clients and internal stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and manage firewall policies and network security controls to protect client infrastructure.
- Monitor security events and analyze logs to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analysis to identify and mitigate security threats.
- Configure and optimize security devices, including firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
- Collaborate with networking and systems teams to ensure secure network architecture.
- Document security standards, policies, and procedures clearly and accurately.
- Support security audits and compliance activities.
- Participate in security awareness initiatives to educate clients and internal teams.
- Provide technical guidance on cybersecurity best practices to clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Strong understanding of network security fundamentals, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure network design.
- Hands-on experience with major firewall platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point.
- Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, and familiarity with server and cloud environments (Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft 365, and common cloud platforms).
- Experience with security monitoring, log analysis, SIEM tools, vulnerability scanning, and incident response.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS controls, and awareness of compliance requirements.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, security policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP Security, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP.
